It may be released by July, but usually Kyreese and Coney albums aren't done by the proposed date.
Hardness In materials science, hardness is the characteristic of a solid material expressing its resistance to permanent deformation.
(In mathematics, hardness refers to the difficulty of proving a conjecture, solving an equation, etc. computational complexity theory.)
There are three principal operational definitions of hardness:
#Scratch hardness
#Indentation hardness
#Rebound, dynamic or absolute hardness
Scratch hardness
In mineralogy, ''hardness'' commonly refers to a material's ability to penetrate softer materials. An object made of a ''hard'' material will scratch an object made of a ''softer'' material. Scratch hardness is usually measured on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Pure diamond is the hardest known natural mineral substance and will scratch any other material. Diamond is therefore used to cut other diamonds; in particular, higher-grade diamonds are used to cut lower-grade diamonds.
The hardest substance known today is ultrahard fullerite which has an estimated hardness 1.17-1.52 times that of diamond. However, this material is currently available only in microscopic quantities: its scratch hardness had to be measured under the atomic force microscope.
Estimates from proposed molecular structure indicate the hardness of beta carbon nitride should also be greater than diamond (but less than ultrahard fullerite). This material has not yet been successfully synthesized.
Indentation hardness
Primarily used in engineering and metallurgy, indentation hardness seeks to characterise a material's resistance to permanent, and in particular plastic, deformation. It is usually measured by loading an indenter of specified geometry onto the material and measuring the dimensions of the resulting indentation.
There are several alternative definitions of indentation hardness, the most common of which are:
Brinell hardness test
Knoop hardness test or microhardness test, for measurement over small areas
Meyer hardness
Hard Eight
''Hard Eight'' is a 1996 film written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, starring Philip Baker Hall, John C. Reilly, Gwyneth Paltrow and Samuel L. Jackson. Robert Ridgely, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Melora Walters also appear.
The film, originally titled ''Sydney'', was Anderson's first feature; Hall, Reilly, Ridgely, Hoffman and Walters have acted in Anderson's subsequent films.
Plot
Sydney, a gambler in his 60s, sees a young man, John, sitting outside a diner and offers to buy him a cup of coffee. When Sydney learns that John is trying to get enough money for his mother's burial, he offers to take him to Reno and teach him how to win the money by gambling. Though skeptical at first, John eventually agrees.
Several months later, John, having finished his task, has stayed in Reno and become Sydney's protege, and is attracted to Clementine, a casino cocktail waitress revealed to be an occasional prostitute. Shortly after John and Clementine get married, Sydney gets a frantic late-night phone call and arrives at a motel to find the newlyweds trying to deal with a customer who refuses to pay for Clementine's services. Afterward, Sydney advises John and Clementine to leave town and head to Niagara Falls for their "honeymoon."
After the two leave, Sydney is confronted by Jimmy, a friend of John's who has worked security at various casinos in the past. Jimmy demands a large amount of money from Sydney, threatening to tell John the truth: that Sydney killed his father. Sydney acquiesces, but sneaks into Jimmy's house later and shoots him.
Trivia
According to Mr. Anderson, Rysher Entertainment attempted to re-edit the film but changed its mind after disappointing focus tests. Anderson, with financial help from Paltrow and Jackson, was able to secure the film and release his version, which was retitled "Hard Eight," per Rysher's request.
The film was expanded from a short film, ''Cigarettes and Coffee''. Anderson was invited to
It'S Hard
''It's Hard'' is the final studio album by British rock band The Who and the second album after drummer Keith Moon died. It was released in 1982 and peaked at number 11 on the United Kingdom album charts and number 8 on the Billboard Pop Albums charts in the United States.
There are two schools of thought with consideration to ''It's Hard''. Some view it as an album inspired by the tense political climate of the early 1980's, as Pete Townshend did. Others see it merely as The Who fulfilling the contract to their American record label, as Roger Daltrey thought. The split in opinion is evident in reviews of the time, as well; ''It's Hard'' was praised by some critics and panned by many others.
The first track, "Athena," is one of the few songs that was well received on ''It's Hard''. The demo version was called "Theresa," named after actress Theresa Russell. It was written after Pete Townshend had met Russell and promptly fell for her, only to be rejected the next day. His frustration of her not reciprocating his love is expressed in this song, which he renamed "Athena" as to hide who the song was really about. Townshend planned on "Athena" to be part of the revival of ''Lifehouse''. "Athena" peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Pop Singles charts. The album, designed by Graham Hughes, depicts a young boy playing the Space Duel arcade game. It is a reference to ''Tommy'', with the pinball table that the main character played with updated to the times. It was not popular with Townshend, who criticized it shortly after the album's release because of the lack of the band's input.
