Seattle As a person living in the Seattle area and who works downtown, I can see one very good reason for having Seattle, Washington. Seattle was a person, so plain Vanilla Seattle should probably belong to him! HK
Ah! An ambiguity issue. Very well -- since there is some ambiguity as to what Seattle is then the city should be naturally disambiguated by being titled Seattle, Washington, the chief known by that name should be at Chief Seattle and Seattle should then become a disambiguation page (since ''Seattle'' is far and away more widely known as the city and not the person -- at least on the national and international scale -- may be different in Seattle itself). However, this will require the changing of a bunch of current links (I’ll get to this this weekend). Thanks for catching that -- I originally thought that Chief Seattle would be the natural name for Seattle the person, but I now do recall hearing him referred to simply as ''Seattle''. Oh and being a resident of the city in question is really obscures ones perception of what his/her town is known as nationally or internationally. Cheers! --maveric149
Its just too much work to change all the links to Seattle -- So, for now at least, I will make Seattle into a redirect to Seattle, Washington and have an edit link at the bottom of that page named Chief Seattle. This is probably an issue that is analogous to having the city of Paris France at simply Paris. But having a redirect to Seattle, Washington won't hurt matters. --maveric149

Franchise history
1970s and 1980s
The Mariners were added to the American League in 1977, and were for many years perennial non-achievers. Despite having stars such as Alvin Davis and Gaylord Perry, the team gained a reputation for their poor performance. Highlights of the early years included hosting the 1979 All-Star Game, Gaylord Perry's 300th career win, and promotions, such as "Funny Nose Glasses Night." In 1989, rookie centerfielder Ken Griffey, Jr. joined the team. His defensive ability, hitting power, and baserunning speed would begin to change the Mariners' reputation.
1990s
In 1991, the Mariners had their first winning season, finishing 83-79. Though it was the team's best season, it was only good enough to end in fifth place. Prior to the 1993 season, the Mariners hired manager Lou Pinella, who managed the Cincinnati Reds to a 1990 World Series win.
By 1995, the Mariners had added a core of strong players built around center-fielder Ken Griffey, Jr., pitcher Randy Johnson and designated hitter Edgar Martinez. An
early-season injury to Griffey seemed to doom the 1995 season. In mid-August, the Mariners were 13 games behind the first-place California Angels. A September winning streak marked by late-inning comeback wins, combined with

Franchise History
The Seahawks joined the league in 1976 as a member of the NFC West division. A year later, they switched conferences with their expansion partners, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and joined the AFC West. They played in the American Football Conference until 2002, when, with league realignment, they were returned to the National Football Conference.
Recent Achievements:
On September 26, 2004 the Seahawks shutout the San Francisco 49ers 34-0. This marked the end of the 49er's league record 27 year streak without a shutout - the last such game being Atlanta in 1977. While the 49ers were in a position to score in the 4th quarter, an interception and a fumble recovery sealed their fate. Some current players were either very young children or not even born when the last 49ers shutout occurred.
Won their third division championship in 2004, when they claimed the NFC West title.

Located on Seattle, Washington's First Hill, it was founded in 1891 as the School of the Immaculate Conception by the Society of Jesus. Today, Seattle University is one of 28 member institutions of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
Seattle University was founded by Father Victor Garrand and Father Adrian Sweere in downtown Seattle. It served as both a high school and college. In 1893, construction began on the First Hill campus. The school moved to First Hill in 1898 and changed its name to Seattle College, at which point the high school became a separate institution now known as Seattle Preparatory School. In 1909, the college awarded its first bachelor's degrees. Seattle College changed its name to Seattle University in 1948.
The university includes the College of Arts and Sciences, the Albers School of Business and Economics, the School of Education, the School of Law, Matteo Ricci College, the School of Nursing, the School of Science and Engineering, and the School of Theology and Ministry, and awards bachelor's, master's, and J.D. degrees.
The School of Law was founded in 1972 as part of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. Twenty-one years later UPS and Seattle University agreed on a transfer of the law school to Seattle University; in August 1994 the transfer was completed, and the school physically moved to Seattle in 1999.
The school's sports teams are the Redhawks, and participate in the NCAA's Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Seattle University's mission statment focuses primarily on diversity and social justice. In its stratergy to have a more diverse population and have more international dialogue, 50 percent of SU's students are Caucasian, while the rest include African Americans, Asian Americans, Latino Americans, Mixed Ethnicities and International Students (who make up 10 percent of the student population).
