    Sales

:''This article is about the commerical activity. For the commune in France, see Sales, Haute-Savoie.'' Sales, or the activity of ''selling'', forms an integral part of commercial activity. Mastering sales is considered by many as some sort of persuading "art". On the contrary, the methodological approach of selling, refers to it as a ''systematic process of repetitive and measurable milestones, by which a salesperson relate his offering enabling the buyer to visualize how to achieve his goal in an economic way''. Selling is a practical implementation of marketing, it often forms a separate grouping in a corporate structure, employing separate specialist operatives known as ''salesmen'' (singular: ''salesman'' or ''salesperson''). The successful questioning to understand a customers goal, the further creation of a valuable solution by communicating the necessary information that encourages a buyer to achieve his goal at an economic cost is the responsibility of the sales person or the sales engine (e.g. internet, vending machine etc). The primary function of professional sales is to generate and close leads, educate prospects, fill needs and satisfy wants of consumers appropriately, and therefore turn prospective customers into actual ones. From a marketing point of view, selling is one of the methods of promotion used by marketers. Other promotional techniques include advertising, sales promotion, publicity, and public relations. Various sales strategies exist, such as tit-for-tat which is best if ongoing dealings and interactions are expected. This insight is behind so-called consultative sales process which are used by Saturn to sell cars, as well as for some direct Business-to-Business sales. Several types of sales exist including direct, consultative, and complex sales. Complex sales varies from other types in that the customer plays a more pro-active role, often requiring proposal response to their Request for Proposal (RFP).

    G-SALE

''G-SALE'' (2003) is a mockumentary film about garage sales and the people who are obsessed by them. The film is reminiscent of the movies of Christopher Guest and won several film festival awards.

    Plot Summary

Bogwood, Washington is a pleasant suburban community with a special distinction--it has more garages per capita than any other town in America. Not surprisingly, Bogwood is also the "Garage Sale Capital of the U.S.A." When retirees Doris & Clayton Fenwick decide to empty their nest of retro-modern antiques, they set the wheels in motion for a frantically funny "g-sale" involving Bogwood's most avid garage sale junkies: Angela Cocci (an obsessive market researcher), Ed LaSalle (a beleaguered computer programmer and creator of the cult fantasy roleplaying game "Caves & Beasts"), Dick Nickerson (a retired star of the 60s sitcom "Pot o' Gold"), and BJ Harwood & Helen Ziegler (partners and owners of a trendy retro-modern antique store). These colorful characters try to outmaneuver each other to score their ultimate garage sale treasure: an antique board game worth a fortune.

    Salé

:''For the Canadian figure skater, see Jamie Salé.'' Salé is the twin city to Rabat, captital of Morocco. It was once a self contained, self ruled Republic with international scope, situated on the mouth of the Bou Regreg river on the Atlantic coast.

    History

Salé has a population of around 600,000. It was founded in the 11th century and in about 1630 it became a haven for Moriscoes turned Barbary pirates. Salé pirates used to roam the seas as far as the American shores, bringing back loot and slaves, mostly women. Legend has it that Robinson Crusoe sailed off from the mouth of Salé river. Salé had a rich and determinig part in the Moroccan history. The first demonstartions for independance against the French sparked off in Salé. A good number government officals, decision makers and royal advisors were form Salé. Salé people, the Slawis, have always had a 'tribal' sense of belonging, a sense of pride which developed into a feeling of superiority towards the 'berranis' i.e. foreigners.

    Modern city

Modern Salé is a highly polluted, badly planned, rapidly expanding town, because of rural exodus. The town is now a large size dormitory town with no real community life. Most of its influencial and wealthy inhabitants have left to the other side of the river, to Rabat. Historical heritage is in total decrepit, pollution is prevailing and insecurity is high. However, both its geographical situation and its 'melting pot' aspect make it a town with a lot of potential that remains untapped by the local authorities so far. In Salè textile factories, some sweatshop conditions exist. Fruit Of the Loom operates a textile factory which employs women and girls of all ages for far less than the official minimum wage of 6.60 dirham/hour. Women and girls line up at the door to the factory and rougly two hundred are let in where they work for two hours and are paid 10 dirham for their efforts. That equates to 1 U.S. dollar or 50 U.S. cents/hour.

  • Beatles For Sale

''Beatles for Sale'' was the Beatles' fourth album, released in late 1964 and produced by George Martin for Parlophone. This album marked a minor turning point in the Beatles' style towards darker and more sombre songs following the highly successful and bright ''A Hard Day's Night''. Exhausted by their relentless recording and performing schedule, the Beatles chose to return to the inclusion of a number of cover versions in ''Beatles for Sale''. ''Beatles for Sale'' and its counterpart in the United States, ''Beatles '65'', both reached number one on the charts in their respective countries, with the former taking over from ''A Hard Day's Night'' in the United Kingdom. ''Beatles '65'' became the fastest selling album of the year in the United States.

    Writing and recording

When ''Beatles for Sale'' was being recorded, Beatlemania was just past its peak; in early 1964, the Beatles had made waves with their television appearances in the United States, sparking unprecedented demand for their records. ''Beatles for Sale'' was the Beatles' fourth album in 21 months, and followed on the heels of several tours. Beatles producer George Martin recalled: "They were rather war-weary during ''Beatles For Sale''. One must remember that they'd been battered like mad throughout '64, and much of '63. Success is a wonderful thing, but it is very, very tiring." Even the prolific John Lennon/Paul McCartney songwriting team couldn't keep up with the demand for their songs, and as a result the band resorted to recording several cover versions for the album, which had been the band's mode of operation for their first albums but which had been abandoned in favor of the all-original ''Hard Day's Night''. The final album included no less than six covers, the most for any Beatles album except their debut. ''Beatles for Sale'' featured eight Lennon and McCartney works as well as six cover versions. At this stage in their collaboration, Lennon and McCartney's songwriting
