Ugly So where do I start? where i live? what i do for a living? what my qualifications are?
Sorry, its none of your business I'm afraid, and would bore the hell out of you anyway. I am Ugly and I will work on articles over a diverse range of subjects.
''I never saw an ugly thing in my life: for let the form of an object be what it may, - light, shade, and perspective will always make it beautiful'' --John Constable
Ugliness s are often described as ugly or grotesque.]]
Ugliness is the property of physical things that are unappealing to the eye. The term is often used in reference to human appearance. The opposite of ugliness is beauty. Being a matter of subjective aesthetics, one person may think something beautiful that another may find ugly ("Beauty is in the eye of the beholder").
Although usually thought of in its visual sense, the property of ugliness may also be ascribed to other phenomena, for example, music, literature, scientific theories, human actions, and so on.

Ugly Rumours Ugly Rumours were a rock band of which current (as of May 5, 2005) UK prime minister Tony Blair was a member (singing and playing guitar) whilst studying law at St John's College, Oxford during the 1970s. The band's name came from the cover of the Grateful Dead's album ''From the Mars Hotel''.
Ugly Rumours is also the name of the first novel by American writer Tobias Wolff. Published only in England, according to critic http://www.lrb.co.uk/v26/n03/maso02_.html Wyatt Mason, this "tale of the Vietnam War, appeared in Britain in 1975 but is always omitted from his list of publications. ... In the book's best scene ... there is a suggestive seed of achievement to come. The cynical lieutenant, Woermer, wounded on duty after he agrees to go on a manoeuvre in place of his sergeant friend, is interviewed by an English journalist hungry for gory details:
"Woermer, in desperation, tried to explain how it felt to have a mine go off almost under your feet, the sound so loud you could not hear it, the sudden lightness of body, all of it. But the right words would never come ... His imagination took over from his memory. He led the scribbling Englishman through tiger-infested jungles, escapes from entire divisions of hardcore Vietcong, and daring daylight raids on enemy headquarters. Woermer told these lies without pleasure, because he saw the reporter had no respect for truth."

''The Ugly Duckling'' (Danish: ''Den grimme ælling'') is a classic-contemporary story by Hans Christian Andersen about a duckling, notably
larger, clumsier and uglier than the other ducklings in his brood. The story was first published November 11, 1843 and figured in Andersen's collected ''New Tales'' (''Nye Eventyr'') in 1844.
Plot
The mother's first thought, seeing the odd one in the water, is "He is my own child, and he is not so very ugly after all if you look at him properly." The duckling begins in the farmyard with his family, always the last one to get anything, and always taunted and attacked for his looks, then escapes to the moor among wild ducks, witnesses the carnage among wild geese in the hunting season, escapes from becoming an old woman's pet and is all but frozen into the ice. In the spring, the duckling discovers, from seeing his reflection, that he has grown up to be a beautiful swan.
Significance
This wry and realistically told story, with its droll burlesque of petty human self-worth, is often considered a metaphor for the experience of an awkward stage in a child's growth. As a fairy tale, it is used to make children less ashamed of their differences. Its understated social moral is buried within the tale: ''To be born in a duck's nest, in a farmyard, is of no consequence to a bird, if it is hatched from a swan's egg.'' A human parallel would concern a child who looks or acts different from the other children around him/her. With the fairy tale comes hope that those differences will result in special benefits and future greatness:
:"Then he rustled his feathers, curved his slender neck, and cried joyfully, from the depths of his heart, "I never dreamed of such happiness as this, while I was an ugly duckling."
The Ugly Duckling has become a metaphor for anything neglected continually, or anything neglected at first, then becoming popular or good. For example: "I
Ugli Fruit
An ugli fruit is a citrus fruit created by hybridizing a grapefruit (or pomelo according to some sources) and a tangerine, and is sometimes called uniq fruit or unique fruit.
Native to Jamaica, the fruit was first bred in Brown's Town in 1914. It got its name from the unsightly appearance of its rough, wrinkly greenish-yellow skin, wrapped loosely around the seedless orange pulpy citrus inside. An ugli fruit is slightly smaller than a grapefruit. It tends towards the sweet side of the tangerine rather than the sour side of its grapefruit lineage. The fruit is available from December to April.
The fruit is also described by the distributor as an exotic tangelo.

Ugly Rumours The review is an important piece of History showing the character of the Prime-Minister of Great Britain, and shows the young parts of his behaviour that helped form the leader that he became.

Yes, I found it http://www.bbc.co.uk/oxford/music/2003/05/ugly_rumours.shtml here. The "found" makes me suspect it's a fake. If it isn't, it may well be a violation of copyright. Bmills 13:37, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Well I contacted the BBC before posting it, they informed me that it was from the Newsletter, and verified.. and I could publish it elsewhere for non-profit purposes Tony The Tiger 13:45, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)

"VFD. Could be one sentence in article on rock or Tony Blair, but is probably too esoteric to be mentioned anywhere in a general encyclopedia like this one. Is there an encyclopedia of British Rock? GCW
